Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA): Training and Empowerment For Young Women In Kaduna Metropolis (Nigerian Ports Authority Corporate Social Responsibility) 2019-07-05T20:09:14+00:00

Project Description

In 2018, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) engaged MDCL to conduct a training and empowerment programme for young women within Kaduna metropolis. The training was NPA’s way of giving back to the community by way of its own Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Fifty beneficiaries were selected from a pool of young women in Kaduna North and Kaduna South Local Government Areas of the state, after a rigorous selection process which included the meeting of age (18 to 35 years) and education (minimum of Senior Secondary School Certificate) requirements, as well as face to face interviews.

Participants were taught practical skills in either cake and pastry making or event decoration. Those that chose cake and pastry making were taught basic processes of cake and pastry making. The same thing was done with the events decoration class, where participants were taught the rudiments of event decoration and did practical sessions in a real event centre.  The beneficiaries were also trained on basic bookkeeping, marketing and entrepreneurship to enable them run more successful businesses.
