Project Description
Between 2010 and 2011 MDCL conducted research for CADP in all the 23 local government areas of Kaduna state on the establishment of market information kiosks (MIKs) for farming communities within the state. The assignment also included the designing of the MIKs for uninterrupted flow of market information among producers, processors and marketers, as well as proposing management structure and sustainability strategies. The deliverables of the consultancy were; designing, hosting and maintaining for a period of one year a functional website to be used as a medium for selling products of farmers registered under the KDSCADP across the globe, a management structure for running of the MIKs identified, a sustainability plan for the MIKs put in place and a signed MOU with selected GSM or CDMA operators and established VPN that would provide a medium for market information dissemination. MDCL also facilitated the signing of a tripartite MOU between CADP, market associations in Kaduna state and the Commercial Agriculture Development Association (CADA).
