Furera Isma Jumare is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of MicroDevelopment Consulting Limited (MDCL), managing its day to day operations of providing services in research, project management and capacity development. Over the past thirty years she has worked in the field of development, initially in Development Finance Manager at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) where she had been involved in the implementation of government’s development programmes such as the Agricultural Credit Guarantee and the Small and Medium Enterprises Equity Investment Schemes, and then as a Senior Bank Examiner, supervising and examining development finance institutions.
Furera has also worked as an Independent Consultant with ENABLE2, a DFID programme and at various times served as member, Editorial Board of Leadership Newspaper, member of the Kaduna State Council on Agriculture, the Kaduna State NAPEP Multi-partner Microfinance Implementation Committee and the Kaduna State Microfinance Implementation Committee. Apart from managing MDCL’s operations, Furera is an Independent Director on the Board of Union Bank of Nigeria Plc.
The CEO holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Botany and three Master’s degrees; in Crop Physiology, in Rural Development and in International Development Management, which was funded by the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Programme (JJ/WBGSP). She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management. Apart from her academic qualifications, Mrs. Jumare has the UK Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD)’s Certificate in Training Practice, Certificate in Entrepreneurial Management from Pan-Atlantic University, is a CMD accredited management trainer, a fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC), member Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) (Chartered) and Member, Institute of Directors.
